THE unspoiled beauty of Castlehaven Bay will be seen from the sea by an estimated two million viewers of the popular French travel show, Échappées Belles.

Presenter Jérôme Pitorin can attest that kayaking with Jim Kennedy of Atlantic Sea Kayaking in Castlehaven is indeed ‘a beautiful escape.’

It is one of a number of locations that were filmed in Ireland over the last month and will air later this year on the country’s public TV network, France 5.

The other West Cork locations are Kinsale and Dursey Island, which features Ireland’s only cable car.

The production was supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

Tourism Ireland’s Barbara Wood said: ‘Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of promotional activity, to encourage travellers in France, and elsewhere around the world, to put Ireland on their holiday wish-list.’
