KINSALE-based company Graepels has scooped an award for its Titanic-inspired installation at Camden Fort Meagher, Crosshaven. The firm has won the award for Best Restoration Project at the Irish Steel Awards 2025 for its ‘Titanic Picture Perf’ installation at the popular amenity.

This special project pays tribute to the RMS Titanic using Graepels’ unique perforated metal technique, recreating the last known photograph of the ship.

Commissioned by Cork County Council, the brief was to create something that combined history, technology, and design. The result is a durable, weather-resistant perforated metal screen that replicates the photograph through thousands of perforations. When viewed from the front, the image becomes clear and emotive. As daylight changes, shadows and light animate the surface making the Picture Perf installation an evolving and immersive experience bringing history to life.

The piece was donated to honour not only the ship’s legacy, but the incredible volunteers who have helped preserve Camden Fort Meagher for future generations.

Overlooking Cork Harbour’s waters, the installation blends local heritage, craftsmanship, and storytelling, and has already become a highlight for visitors, school groups, and heritage tours.
