CLONAKILTY sit in joint second place in Munster Junior League Division 1 after their 39-20 home win against Newcastle West.

High-flying Clon have won three of their four league games and sit on 16 points alongside Kilfeacle and District, and just one point behind leaders Sunday’s Well.

Tobi Oliver scored two tries for the West Cork side, and Rory White, Ben Lovell, Matt Foster, Conor Hayes and Niall Barrett all scored one each. Barrett also kicked two conversions.

There was a welcome win for Bandon, as they beat Old Christians 21-19 at Old Chapel. This was their second win in four games. James Collins-O’Brien scored two tries, and Dan Lane ran in one for the home side. All three were converted by Hugh O’Mahony.

Not so good luck for Skibbereen who lost 15-11 at home to St Mary's, despite a Tom Beare try and two penalties from Will Canavan.
