Good news for Bandon man ahead of first Premier League campaign

BANDON man Conor Hourihane has signed a contract extension with Aston Villa.

Hourihane is West Cork’s first-ever Premier League footballer after playing a key role in the club’s promotion from the Championship last season and the good news keeps on coming for him after he penned a new deal.

‘I'm absolutely delighted. It's exciting times for the club with us moving into the Premier League. I've waited all my career for the opportunity to play at this level and the time has now arrived,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘I'm really looking forward to the season ahead. It's a big period for me personally as I've come all the way from League Two to reach the top. I'm glad to sign and look forward to being here for seasons ahead.’

Ireland midfielder Hourihane (28) has scored 21 times and has 16 assists in the 111 Villa appearances he has made since joining the club in January 2017 from Barnsley.
