MAEVE O’Neill showed her class once more when gliding to gold at the Tailteann Games at Morton Stadium, Santry on Saturday week. The Ballinacarriga teenager (14) made the headlines after her stunning victory in the junior girls’ 1500m at the All-Ireland schools’ championships gold in Tullamore earlier in June, and off the back of that Maeve was selected to run for the Munster Schools’ team at the Tailteann Games.

Again, she showed just how good she is when she won the girls’ 1500m in a personal best time of four minutes and 37 seconds, and not only that, she was awarded the Jack McSweeney Trophy for her superb performance.
