NICOLA Tuthill has been shortlisted for the U23 Athlete of the Year at the 123.ie National Athletics Awards.

The Kilbrittain hammer thrower enjoyed another superb season that included an 11th-place finish at her first senior Worlds, silver medals at the European U23 Athletics Championship and World University Games, and an U23 gold medal at the European Throwing Cup, as well as a new personal best.

Also in the running for the award are Anika Thompson, Anna Gavigan, Eimear Maher and Nick Griggs.

Bandon AC’s Diarmuid O'Connor has been shortlisted for the Field & Multi Event Athlete of the Year award, alongside Eric Favors, Kate O’Connor, Niamh Fogarty and Reece Ademola.

Derval O’Rourke, one of Ireland’s most successful athletes, will be honoured with the Hall of Fame Award at the National Athletics Awards that take place on Wednesday, November 26th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry.
