CORK defender Kevin O’Donovan has been ruled out of the Munster senior football championship.

The Nemo Rangers man has endured a tough time with injuries in recent seasons, and is set for another spell on the sideline.

He did feature as a temporary sub in Cork’s recent Division 2 league final loss to Meath, but Rebels boss John Cleary has revealed O’Donovan will miss the provincial series that starts this weekend.

‘Kevin O’Donovan unfortunately picked up a knock – he’s out for the Munster championship,’ Cleary told The Southern Star

‘He just has a bit of a stress injury in his foot. He had something similar last year but has it in a different place this year.

‘Other than that we’re reasonably good on the injury front.’

Bantry Blues' Dara Sheedy has recovered from the knock he picked up in the league final, and is currently with the Cork U20s ahead of their Munster opener on Thursday night.

Cork take on Limerick in a Munster SFC quarter-final in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday, 2pm throw-in.
