Rally co-driver Michelle Gallwey (25) from Leap will hopefully be competing in her ninth consecutive Fastnet Rally in late October, calling the notes for her brother-in-law Brian O’Mahony from Rosscarbery. There will be no short cuts for this hairdresser, who brings plenty of style to motorsport

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 on how funny you are? I don’t think I’m very funny, but my family think I am a 7.

Highlight of your sporting career? Winning first overall in Group N in the PlasticBags.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship in 2014.

Most dialled number on your phone? It’s definitely a tie between my boyfriend, John, and my mother, Ina.

What’s your karaoke song? I don’t have a musical note in my head, but I would chance a few lines of Kenny Roger’s The Gambler on a night out.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? I played quite a bit of football before my rallying career. I’ve played for Kilmacabea, Castlehaven, Carbery Rangers and Clann na nGael.

Best-ever holiday? Has to be Boston 2012, all that shopping suited me well!

If you won the lotto what would you buy first?A nice house, a new car, a nice sun holiday and an Escort Mk 2 rally car for my driver, Brian.

Separated at birth, who’s your celebrity twin double? I don’t look like her, but I really admire Pippa O’Connor’s style.

What’s your favourite word? I have a habit of saying ‘jano’ a lot.

If you could change any part of you what would it be? Could definitely grow a few inches, it can sometimes look like there is no co-driver in the Civic, only a helmet!

Your most treasured item of clothing? Bridesmaid dress from my sister’s wedding in 2013.

Favourite cartoon? It has to be Scooby Doo.

If I was an animal then I would be a ...koala bear. They have always fascinated me.

What question would you liked to have been asked in this interview? Tell us how new competitors can get involved in rallying?
