Fresh from her exploits at the European Bowling Championships in Holland, Durrus teenager Emma Hickey (18) recalls the time when she, literally, left her national school teacher hopping mad!

How would your best friend describe you? Kind, a bit crazy and the ultimate ‘blonde’ at times.

Who was your sporting hero when you were 10 years old? Derval O’Rourke.

Tell us a funny story from your childhood: When I was five, my friend and I decided to collect a few frogs one day on our break in national school but accidentally dropped the box when showing them to our teacher and had frogs jumping around the junior infants’ classroom, causing havoc!

Where would you recommend for a weekend away? Sneem is a lovely place to visit – it has beautiful scenery and friendly people.

If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? A picture of my family, a bottle of water and a hammock.

If you could go back in time, where would you go and why? The European Bowling Championships in Pesaro, Italy, in 2012 – it was an unforgettable experience and an amazing place.

What song best describes you? Try Everything by Shakira.

What is your least favourite word? Morning. I’m not a morning person at all!

What’s your favourite knock-knock joke? Knock, knock. Who’s there? A broken pencil. A broken pencil who? Never mind, it’s pointless!

What’s the world’s greatest invention? Road bowling.

How many cows are there in Ireland? I would tell you a pun but I don’t think you’d be amoooosed.

If you know you’d die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day? I’d take the first flight to Iceland with my family, to relax in the blue lagoon and watch the Northern Lights.

A penguin walks into the room wearing a sombrero, why is he wearing it and what does he say? It’s the morning after the Mexican night in Ross’ Bar, Durrus. He asks will anyone throw him in a pick-up score for a tenner.
