BEARA United started the new year in top spot in the OBrienWaterServices.com WCL Championship.
The table-toppers were too strong for Skibbereen AFC, powering to a 6-1 win on December 28th to ensure they were top of the charts starting 2026.
Jonathan Rosales Harrington and Lee Kelly both scored first-half doubles, while David McCarthy and James Harrington were also on target for Beara, who sit on 28 points after 11 games. John Cahalane scored a late consolation goal for the Skibbereen team.

Hot on Beara’s heels are Bay Rovers, who lie just one point behind but have played three games more. Their latest league game was a 5-2 victory over fifth-place Skibbereen Celtic. Paddy Cronin, Ben O’Sullivan, Callum McElhinney, Eoin Bowden and Luke Salter Townshend (penalty) all scored for the winners. Cian O'Brien and Adele Khan were on target for Skibbereen.
Meanwhile, in a Championship Cup round one clash, a double from Jack Meade fired Spartak Mossgrove to a 2-1 win against Castlelack, who pulled a goal back late in the second half from Liam Ryan.
Both Skibb teams will be in league action this Sunday – Skibbereen Celtic are home to Aultagh Celtic at 11am, and Skibbereen AFC host promotion-chasing Bunratty United at 2.30pm.
