The Beara side play Carrigaline’s third team in the semi-final on the weekend of November 15th-16th after the Carrigdhoun side beat Dohenys’ seconds 1-16 to 1-13 after extra-time in Clonakilty.
The Dunmanway club led 0-6 to 0-5 at the break but a black card in the early stages of the second period derailed the Carbery champions. A Dohenys goal on 43 minutes to make it 1-7 to 0-8 seemed like a big score, but Carrig cancelled out that advantage just three minutes later.
Dohenys battled back to lead 1-11 to 0-11 going into added time until a late Carrigaline goal sent the game to extra-time. Brian Kelleher was a leading light for the Carrigdhoun side as they booked their place in the last four.
Also, St Colum’s U21 football season came to an end after their 2-12 to 4-5 loss to St Nick’s in the quarter-final of the county U21B championship in Ballinacarriga. The Kealkill side led 4-5 to 1-9 with 20 minutes left, but Nick’s hit 1-3 without reply, including an injury time goal by Jack O’Sullivan to snatch victory.
