IT was an arm wrestle, but Dohenys came out on top in the Bandon Co-op Carbery Junior B Football Championship final on Friday night, beating Newcestown 0-8 to 0-6 in Ahamilla.
Newcestown led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break, but the move of Dohenys’ Colm O’Shea out of goal and into the forwards for the second half proved a masterstroke. He finished with 0-4, including the only two-pointer in the game – from a free in the 44th minute – that gave Dohenys the lead for the first time.
Eddie Kenneally, who kicked four of Newcestown’s six points, had a late chance to level the game, but his two-pointer effort was off target.
