CLONAKILTY RFC have confirmed their place in the All-Ireland Junior Cup for next season after a 12-10 away win against St Mary’s in Munster Junior League Division 1.

With Kilfeacle’s 35-5 victory over Muskerry clinching the title for the Tipperary side, Clonakilty confirmed their spot in the top four thanks to Ben Lovell’s last-minute try. The other Clon try scorer was Rory White with Eoin Downey adding the extras.

Clon, who are second in the table, play Sunday’s Well at home in their final league game on Sunday, March 1st.

Bandon continued their strong end to the season with a 27-22 victory over Richmond, and are now just three points off third with one game to play. Scott Kingston (2) and Zach Allen scored tries for the West Cork club. Dan Coughlan kicked two penalties and two conversions, and Dylan Barr also added a conversion.

Bandon’s final game is at home to champions Kilfeacle on March 1st and they will hope for a favour off local rivals Skibbereen who host Mallow this Sunday (2.30pm). If Mallow win, then third place will be out of reach for Bandon. If Skibb get a result, they will get out of the relegation zone with two games to play.

Another West Cork side will join Division 1 next season as Kinsale sealed promotion from Division 2 following their 45-7 home win against Charleville. Dave Looney, Paul Graham, David Evans, Callum Fennell, Robin O’Flynn, Evan Lehane and Matthew O’Donovan scored tries for Kinsale. Dylan Lacey kicked five conversions.
