Four first-half goals see the Haven blitz Carbery Rangers and setup a league final against neighbours Skibbereen

O’DONOVAN Rossa and Castlehaven will clash in the Kelleher Shield Division 1 football league final next Sunday, November 15th, in Kilmacabea, at 2.30pm.

This is a repeat of the clubs’ recent Cork SFC semi-final that the Haven won 1-13 to 1-10 after racing 1-6 to 0-1 clear inside ten minutes. But the Skibb side battled back well and outscored their neighbours 1-9 to 0-7 for the next 50 minutes, despite losing top scorer Kevin Davis at half time.

On Friday night in the second Kelleher Shield semi-final Castlehaven blitzed Carbery Rangers with four goals in the first half as they led 4-8 to 0-5 at half time before going on to win 4-12 to 1-11. Brian Hurley (2) and Michael Hurley scored three goals in five devastating minutes, while Conor Cahalane also scored a first-half goal.

The previous week O’Donovan Rossa were far too strong for county champions Nemo Rangers in the first league semi-final when the Skibb team comfortably won 0-16 to 0-7, with Kevin Davis scoring 0-9.
