West Cork native Tom Painter has set off on an ambitious solo journey from Dungarvan, Waterford, to Cardiff, Wales.
Combining a personal challenge with a mission of 'compassion and courage,' Painter is walking the distance to arrive in time for the Scotland vs. Wales Six Nations clash at the Principality Stadium this Saturday.
The Mission
While Painter jokingly refers to the trek as a 'shameless PR stunt,' the heart of the journey lies in supporting two vital causes:

Pieta: Providing support for those impacted by suicide and self-harm.
Umrio/OneRio: A global initiative focused on social inclusion and education.
Safety & Experience
A volunteer at the Toe Head Coast Guard Station and a recently certified First Aid Responder (FAR), Painter is well-prepared for the elements.
He describes the trek as a 'mental wellbeing workshop' on the move, utilising his background in mental skills to navigate the long route through Pembrokeshire and on toward Cardiff.
How to Follow
Painter officially began his journey at 9:00 AM, aiming to reach Pembroke Dock by Friday afternoon before the final leg to the stadium.
Supporters can follow his progress and view his 'medical shared learning' updates via his Instagram: @apex.mentalskills.
