GARDAI have issued a warning to businesses in West Cork after a counterfeit €50 note was passed in a shop in Coachford.

GARDAI have issued a warning to businesses in West Cork after a counterfeit €50 note was passed in a shop in Coachford.

This is the first such incident to have been reported in several months in the West Cork division.

This latest incident occurred at a shop in Coachford yesterday evening (Wednesday) between 5.30pm and 6pm when the counterfeit €50 note was handed in to an unsuspecting shopkeeper.

As yet, gardai have no description of the customer involved, but are asking other shopkeepers in the area, and throughout West Cork, to be vigilant.
