A County Council trip to Newport, Rhode Island, later this month is costing approximately €2,000 in flights for the three-person delegation but the accommodation is being provided free by the town of Newport.
A COUNTY COUNCIL trip to Newport, Rhode Island, later this month is costing approximately €2,000 in flights for the three-person delegation but the accommodation is being provided free by the town of Newport.
The delegation will be led by chairman of Bandon Kinsale Municipal District, Cllr Kevin Murphy, director of municipal district operations Mary Ryan and municipal district officer Enda O’Halloran.
Kinsale is twinned with Newport and the delegation were invited by the Mayor of Newport, Harry Winthrop to visit from March 9th to 13th.
In addition to the official delegation there members of the Kinsale Newport Twinning Committee will be travelling at their own expense.
On the return, the chairman from Newport will host a delegation to Kinsale of 26 firemen and ex-firemen who will visit Kinsale for a number of nights around St Patrick’s Day.
