SOME blue lines that have appeared in Bantry recently have confused readers who contacted the paper to enquire if the parking spaces were being changed.
When the Southern Star asked Cork County Council this week, we received the following reply from Anthony Buckley of the Communications Office, explaining the unusual markings:
‘The blue lines indicate the Casual Trading Bays for Friday’s market and are necessary for the licensing of the market so it can be managed in an orderly fashion, thereby causing less disruption for members of the public.
‘The parking white lines – which are more prominent than the blue lines – are in effect for the remainder of the week. Explanatory signage is erected in advance of market day, notifying the public.’
