An Bord Pleanala has deferred for one month a decision regarding an application to build a new SuperValu at Reenrour West in Bantry.

AN Bord Pleanala has deferred for one month a decision regarding an application to build a new SuperValu at Reenrour West in Bantry.

In 2014, Cork County Council granted GW Biggs & Co permission to build a supermarket at Reenrour West, near the old Railway Pier.

However, Donal Hunt and An Taisce made a submission to An Bord Pleanala and the board overturned the Council’s decision. Meanwhile, the members of Cork County Council amended a Local Area Plan to address some of the issues raised by the board.

In 2016, Biggs applied once again for planning and the local authority granted it. However, Mr Hunt sent another submission to An Bord Pleanala and the board indicated that it would make its decision on Monday, December 19th.

But on Monday the board said it was deferring its decision for another month.
