STATE pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy arrived in Skibbereen this evening and visited the house where a man was found dead this morning.

The man was found in his home on High Street in the town at 9am this morning.

It is believed he had been seen collapsed on the ground in a nearby carpark last night.

A post mortem will now be carried out to determine the cause of death.

Although the man has been named locally, his identity has not been confirmed by gardaí.

It is thought he moved to Skibbereen from the Drimoleague area in recent months.

A garda investigation is ongoing.
