BANDON got a double helping of dancing last weekend as the first ever ‘Strictly with Nyhan Motors’ took over the GAA Pavilion for two sold out nights.
The spectacular event, organised by the Friends of Bandon Community Hospital (FOBCH) was a fundraiser for the daycare centre at the hospital and they have already reached their target of €240,000. Such was the demand for tickets for the event that a third night will take place on December 8th.
‘We had huge crowds on both nights and it was a fantastic night of sparkle, glitz and glamour as our 15 couples took to the stage to dance in front of our panel of judges,’ said Pat Brennan of FOBCH.
‘Michelle Barry of Devine Events produced the show and she did an amazing job in bringing the dancers so far. Also her technical team transformed the GAA Pavilion.’
MCs for both nights were Deirdre Lane and Tony O’Leary and the judging panel included dance teacher Veronica O’Shea, former popstar Cobh Cllr Sinead Sheppard, broadcaster Bibi Baskin and Colum McCormack Crowe. Members of the Razzle Dazzle School of Dance provided the interval entertainment.
‘We had a winner on each night with Hazel Mullins and Mickey Power getting the most votes on Friday night, and Jennifer Corcoran and Gary O’Donovan winning on Saturday night.’
Pat thanked all the members of the FOBCH who worked very hard over the past few months in organising what was Bandon’s first venture into Strictly Dancing.
‘We would also like to acknowledge the support of Nyhan Motors who sponsored the event and supplied a car for our raffle. We wish to acknowledge the support from our official photographers, Kris and Anna Titte. They both attended rehearsals to capture every stage of our Strictly journey. We are deeply indebted to them for the support they have given us and they have kindly donated their work to the hospital,’ added Pat.
Hamilton High School in Bandon were the winners of the Kia Piccanto, which was raffled on the Saturday night.
The third ‘Strictly with Nyhan Motors’ will take place in Bandon GAA Pavilion on Friday December 8th at 7.30pm. Ticket are €20 and are on sale now.
