abA NEW play by Patrick Talbot, entitled A Great Arrangement, out Michael Collins and Kitty Kiernan will visit the Town Hall Skibbereen on Thursday next, September 8th, at 8pm as part of a national tour. It will open at the Gaiety Theatre Dublin on Monday 12th.

Drawn from the legendary letters of Michael Collins and Kitty Kiernan, Collins’ inspirational speeches, the Dáil Treaty debate and newspaper accounts of the period, the play presents a compelling portrait of a unique couple, and their country, in the aftermath of the War of Independence and sliding irrevocably into the Civil War.  It offers a fresh perspective on Collins as a political leader and budding statesman, using the actual words of Collins himself.

The play stars Cork actor Dominic McHale as Michael Collins and actress Irene Kelleher – well-known locally for her work with Kilmeen Drama Group – as Kitty Kiernan.

Patrick Talbot is the author of the critically-acclaimed God Bless the Child, the play based on stories by Frank O’Connor which is also currently touring Ireland. He was artistic director and CEO of the Everyman in Cork between 2001 and 2011.

Tickets for A Great Arrangement are available from Thornhill’s Electrical, 028-22557, or at the door on the night.
