SINN Féin MEP for Ireland South, Liadh Ní Ríada, will be the guest speaker at the Kilmichael ambush site on Sunday, November 27th, at 1.30pm, marking the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising.

‘Through the years, the members of the Kilmichael Commemoration Committee have endeavoured to pay a meaningful worthy tribute to the legendary Boys of Kilmichael and, in so doing, express the gratitude of a younger generation of Irish men and women to those illustrious freedom fighters who called halt to a ruthless campaign of terror waged on innocent Irish citizens in a rural hinterland of West Cork,’ said a committee spokesperson.

The Kilmichael ambush caused shockwaves throughout the British establishment at the time.  The commemoration starts with mass in Irish at 10.30am with the local choir at Castletownkenneigh church, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the graves in the cemetery at 11.30am.

The oration by Liadh Ní Ríada MEP will take place at the ambush site at 1.30pm with a dinner and social evening at the Parkway Hotel in Dunmanway at 3.30pm.
