Business people, sports clubs, shoppers and other Clonakilty people have all featured in a video made by SuperValu as the town became the country's first Autism Friendly Town.

After an initiative, started by SuperValu some years ago, which saw the supermarket launch its 'autism-friendly' nights, the movement to make the entire time more autism-aware, took flight.

This week the town announced that local companies had bought into the project, training staff and offering services to those with autism visiting their premises.

The project has been run in connection with Autism advocacy group AsIAm, whose spokesperson is Adam Harris, brother of Health minister Simon.

Adam has been working closely with Scally's SuperValu, and other business interests in the town, to bring the project to fruition.
