A STATUS yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Cork, and the rest of Munster and Leinster, for this evening.

A STATUS yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Cork, and the rest of Munster and Leinster, for this evening.

Met Eireann says that heavy rain will spread from the south this evening and overnight.

There could be accumulations of 25mm to 40mm over a relatively short time period, so spot flooding is likely.

The warning is valid from 7pm this evening until 7am tomorrow (Friday) morning.

In a separate marine warning, Met Eireann says easterly winds will increase to force 6 or 7 this evening on coasts from Carnsore Point to Valentia to Erris Head, extending to all coasts early tonight.

South to southeast winds will reach force 6 or 7 during Friday on coasts from Belfast Lough to Carnsore Point to Mizen Head.
