A TOTAL of 181 customers in the West Cork area experienced a power outage earlier today, (St Stephen’s Day), and 49 customers are still without power.
The areas – near Dunmanway and north of Ballyvourney – also experienced flurries of snow this afternoon, as weather temperatures took a dip after the mild temperatures in the run-up to the holiday period.
However, after many hours of prolonged rain, the snow didn’t stick and left just small patches of ‘slush’ in the areas.
The ESB website reported that 132 customers experienced an outage on the Drimoleague side of Dunmanway, and the power was lost at 3.24pm today.
But the power was restored by 5.30pm. Meanwhile, 49 customers on the Lee Bridge connection, west of Macroom and north of Ballyvourney, are still out from the same time this afternoon, with an estimated time for restoration of 7pm.
