COMMUNITY representatives in Beara have welcomed an undertaking by the County Council to display plans for the €7m Dursey Cable Car project in their community centre.
Paul O’Shea, chairman of the Lehanmore Community Centre, said locals were annoyed initially that the plan was to be put on public display at the Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff because it was an hour’s drive from Dursey.

However, Mr O’Shea said the outcome of the meeting in Glengarriff was ‘positive’ and the Council agreed to show the plan in its entirety in Lehanmore in the near future.
‘It is very important that the plan is displayed here as part of the public consultation process,’ said Mr O’Shea, ‘because it will give everyone an opportunity to have an input, and give people a chance to get answers to their questions.’
