Newly-merged college hosts awards night

There was an excellent turnout at the QQI awards ceremony at the West Cork Campus recently. 

THERE was an excellent turnout at the QQI awards ceremony at the West Cork Campus recently. 

Graduates gained QQI Certificates in Level 5 art, craft & design, ebusiness, childcare, healthcare and horticulture, hospitality and level 6 art and business.

In addition, the night-class gained certification in intellectual disability studies.

Spearline Labs chief executive Kevin Buckley, keynote speaker, whose firm is based in Skibbereen, was adamant that it is possible to create opportunities in rural areas. He spoke of the planned expansion of Spearline and encouraged graduates not to wait for the perfect time to fulfil their dreams, but to create the perfect time. He spoke of the advantages of living in West Cork and said we need to appreciate its quality of life.

It has been an exciting year for the college, following its merger with Cork College of Commerce. The West Cork Campus offers locals the opportunity to gain new skills, develop existing ones, avail of relevant work experience, progress in education and gain employment in a new field.
