NEW patients are now being accepted at Skibbereen Medical Centre after the closure of the Cork Road surgery on August 21st.
A spokesman said: ‘There is no distinction between those who are entitled to General Medical Services – ie medical card and doctor visit card holders – and those who are not, ie so-called private patients.
He added: ‘It is also opportune to point out that at a time when many rural areas are experiencing great difficulties recruiting suitably qualified general practitioners, Skibbereen Medical Centre is fortunate to currently have seven doctors who are committed to providing both daytime and out-of-hours cover – the latter along with our colleagues in Schull and Rosscarbery.’
