DELEGATES from all over Ireland will be attending the AGM of the Federation of Local History Societies (FLSH) which will take place over the weekend of October 3rd to 5th at the Carrigaline Court Hotel.
The host body is Passage West Maritime Museum.
On Friday October 3rd there will be a dinner and welcomes from FLHS chairperson Mairead Byrne and chairperson of Passage West Maritime Museum Angela Murphy-Kirby.

There will also be the launch of the book The A-Z of Curious Northern Ireland by Ulster Federation member Doreen McBride, Banbridge, County Down. Musical entertainment will follow from Passage West Community Choir. Registration for the AGM will open at 9am in the hotel on Saturday October 4th and will be officially opened by county mayor Mary Linehan-Foley at 10am.
There will be a be a welcome from an cathaoirleach of Carrigaline Municipal District Cllr Ben Dalton-O’Sullivan and a short address by Cork County Heritage Officer Conor Nelligan.
In the Heron Room of the hotel there will be a sale of books and journals, plus very short presentations from the different history societies.
Attendance at the AGM is free and everyone from any member organisation of the FLHS is welcome, but registration is required on the day.
On Saturday afternoon, FLHS delegates will visit Camden Fort Meagher, Crosshaven for a guided tour.
That night there will be a dinner in the hotel followed by an illustrated talk by Leo McMahon of Passage West Maritime Museum titled ‘A Historical Tour of Cork Harbour’.
On Sunday October 5th there will be a visit at 11.30am to Passage West Maritime Museum where there will be a talk, and optional short walking tour plus refreshments and local entertainment in the adjoining PACE Centre from and Attridge Academy of Irish Dance and Passage West Community Choir.
Everyone, including non-members of the FLHS are welcome to attend.
The AGM weekend co-ordinator is Larry Breen, from Naas, Co Kildare who said that the Federation of Local History Socieities cordially invites history/heritage groups to join the organisation which produces an annual journal and organises an annual field trip.
