A NUMBER of areas in West Cork are set to benefit from marine-related grants.

A NUMBER of areas in West Cork are set to benefit from marine-related grants.

The areas include a €37,500 investment in improving the slipway access and turning area, as well as the installation of a new access ladder, at Loughanebeg Pier in Cahermore, Castletownbere; the spending of €22,500 on a new concrete deck and mooring rings at Roaringwater Pier at Church Cross, Skibbereen.

There will also be a €51,000 investment in a new concrete deck on the existing slipway and the replacement of rock armour along the beachfront at Carrigillihy in the village of Union Hall.

Funding in the sum of €33,750 will be spent on a new concrete deck and the provision of steel rails at Rosscarbery Pier; €11,250 on the provision of access ladders at piers in Castletownshend, Durrus and Ring.

Ballydonegan Pier in Allihies will benefit from a €48,750 investment that will involve the replacement of a damaged derrick, the repair of damaged sea walls and the improvement of pier access.
