GARDAI have charged a man with carrying out a murder on a Bandon native in a Cork prison last May.

Brian Veale, 31, with an address at Dominic Street near Shandon in Cork city and originally from Dungarvan, Co Waterford, was charged with the single count of murder.

Det Gda Eimear Brennan arrested Veale at Cork District Court last week and charged him with the murder of Graham Johnson at Cork Prison, Rathmore Rd, Cork on May 16th 2015. The late Mr Johnson was 41 at the time.

The detective gave evidence to Judge Con O’Leary of arresting, charging and cautioning the accused that he did not have to reply but that anything he might say would be taken down and given in evidence. Det Garda Brennan said Veale made no reply to the single charge when it was put to him.

The book of evidence was served on Veale.
