Orange weather warning in place due to low temperatures

In light of Met Eireann’s weather warning, Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team convened today to assess the extent of the status orange low temperature warning and the danger to motorists, pedestrians and households.
It will continue very cold tonight with a severe frost. It will be a mostly clear night with ice and lying snow leading to very hazardous conditions on roads and footpaths, with lowest temperatures of -1 to -3 and light to moderate northwest breezes. Many roads and footpaths will be icy tomorrow morning and could remain so for much of the day.
Motorists should drive with care, avoid unnecessary journeys and consult with the AA Road Watch Website theaa.ie/newsroom for traffic and road condition updates. Pedestrians are advised to look out for icy footpaths. Householders should consult with www.winterready.ie for advice and safety tips.
Cork County Council will continue to monitor the situation with gritting and salting crews active where necessary. Check www.corkcoco.ie for any updates.
