TWO West Cork musicians are taking part in the Macalla na hÉireann, 2017 Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland this month.

The tour will visit 14 venues all over Ireland, including Coláiste Choilm in Ballincollig.

Shane Scanlon from Newcestown, who plays the banjo and the mandolin, features in the tour, along with Clonakilty native Dick Beamish, who lives in Ballincollig.

Both musicians are members of the Ballincollig Comhaltas Branch and their selection on this tour is a prestigious honour for them.

The annual Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland brings together leading traditional dancers, musicians and singers to the stage. Following on from the fantastic success of previous concert tours, this year’s tour promises to be a wonderful night of entertainment featuring the cream of traditional musical talent drawn from all the four provinces of Ireland.

Each year the tour assembles an excellent mix of established artists together with up and coming young stars. There are blended together into a fast moving and colourful show that appeals to the fans of Irish traditional music.

Tickets for the Cork show in Coláiste Choilm in Ballincollig on October 17th at 8pm can be booked from Diarmuid O Cathasaigh on 086-2028638 or by email [email protected]
