Local man in serious condition after fall from scaffolding

A LOCAL man is in a serious condition in CUH after a fall from scaffolding outside Adrigole.

The male (53) was working on a building site outside Castletownbere when he fell, at lunchtime today.

The Valentia coast guard was notified of the incident at 1:20pm today and immediately tasked the Shannon rescue helicopter and the Castletownbere Coast Guard land unit to attend the scene.

An ambulance also arrived on site at 1:40pm and the man was airlifted by the rescue helicopter, which left Adrigole GAA pitch at 2:20pm and landed at CUH at 2:40pm.

The man is believed to be in a serious condition at CUH.
