A MAN arrested for possession of cannabis was jailed for one month at Clonakilty District Court. Dylan Leahy (27) of Ballineadig, Ovens, Cork, appeared via video link from Cork Prison where he is serving a sentence for the sale and supply of drugs.

The court heard that on July 12th 2024, gardaí searched Mr Leahy near Ballineadig, Farran, Cork, and found a bag with cannabis worth €300, stuffed down the front of his pants.

Sgt Tom Mulcahy said the accused, who has ten previous convictions, admitted to gardaí at the scene that he owned the cannabis.  Judge Joanne Carroll gave Leahy a one-month prison sentence to commence immediately.

An application for legal aid was granted by Judge Carroll and an order given for the cannabis to be destroyed.
