A WEST Cork woman is hoping to repay a random act of kindness after a stranger paid the postage on a parcel she lost in Skibbereen.
âLike an idiot,' the woman, who lives near Skibbereen, said: âI left the envelope and a load of paperwork on the top of a friend's car in the car park in Lidl and we drove off.
âIt was only when I was looking for the envelope to post to my cousin, Maeve, in the Channel Islands that I realised it was missing, so I went back to Lidl where I found the papers blowing around the car park, but there was no sign of the envelope anywhere.'
She explained that it contained a paperback book of photographs from the early 1900s that features photographs of her great-grandfather and his children, including her grandmother as a child.
She said she wanted to send it as a surprise to her cousin but hadn't mentioned it to her.Â
But she said it was she who was surprised when, a few days later, she received an email from her cousin thanking her for the book and saying how delighted she was to receive it.
âSome kind person must have taken it to the post office and sent it â a real random act of kindness.'
