MORE than 250 ladies attended the ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Gin’ evening in the Parkway Hotel. Ladies were delighted to receive a goodie bag on arrival and they proceeded to collect a personalised gin glass.

Five gin producers, including Beara Distillery, Blacks Brewery, Clonakilty Distillery, West Cork Distillers and Whitley Neill, were on hand to showcase their products and their expertise was obviously greatly received.

Many local businesses attended with pop-up stands, offering discounts on the night. Amongst those present were Connolly’s Shoes. Dr Huaschka Products, Dunmanway Waxing Studio, Hummingbird Gallery, Illusions Fashions, Lakeside Beauty Rooms, Norma’s Hair Design and
Twomey Jewellers.

A further company, called Be Glam, attended to provide a make-over to the winner of a competition, which took place beforehand.

Food, including gin & tonic cupcakes, supplied by Fields of Skibbereen, and gin & tonic sausages, was served over the course of the evening and a monster draw took place. The ladies then danced the night away with the help of DJ Brian Downey.

‘The evening was a tremendous success and all the €5,782 raised will be put towards the redevelopment of the playground in Dunmanway to facilitate children with special needs,’ said chairperson Deirdre Kelly.

‘Further events will be organised in the coming months and we hope that they will be supported to the same extent,’ she concluded.
