Gardai have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision earlier this month following the death of a Skibbereen cyclist in hospital this afternoon.

The 62 year old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while cycling at Lissanoohig on the outskirts of Skibbereen on the afternoon of Friday, April 22nd.

The man, who was from the Kilcoe area outside Skibbereen, was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he died on Saturday afternoon.

Gardai appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at either Skibbereen Garda Station on 028-23088 or Clonakility Garda Station on 023 8821570

The death of the cyclist brings to five the number of people who died in traffic collisions on Cork roads so far this year.
