A FEW more finishing touches and West Cork’s newest music venue – Eileen’s Bar in Kilcrohane – will soon be ready to welcome visitors.

While the scenery on the Sheep’s Head Peninsula is world-renowned, the welcome at Eileen’s Bar would be a close second when it comes to a must-have experience on the Wild Atlantic Way. And now with the new beer garden and music venue almost ready, the sky’s the limit when it comes to a good night out in Kilcrohane.

‘We had this space at the side of the bar, and we thought it would make a perfect spot for a covered beer garden,’ Ian Sanford told The Southern Star.

Ian is Eileen Lehane’s partner and has been working with the help of some the local talent to get the venue ready.

‘While we were planning the beer garden we had the idea to give the area a bit more and decided to add a covered stage and a dance-floor,’ Ian said.

‘We want to make this a venue for any local charity fundraising events, and we will be donating a percentage of any bookings we take to various charities as well.’

The new venue got its first unveiling recently when it hosted a wedding party event.

‘We can cater for about 140 people so the venue will be perfect for small weddings, concerts or just for a drink on a Sunday afternoon,’ Ian said.

‘The area will be completely covered so the weather won’t be a problem.’
