CORK Airport has welcomed today’s announcement that WOW air will now fly from Cork to Chicago, via Reykjavik in Iceland, for €139 each way.

CORK Airport has welcomed today’s announcement that WOW air is to further expand its upcoming route offering to the US this year. The airline announced that it is to include Chicago, Illinois, to its route network, with US flights commencing on 19th May. The new Cork to Chicago, via Reykjavik route will take off on 13th July.

Last year, WOW air announced that it will to launch a new Cork – Reykjavik service starting in May of this year. The launch of the new year-round service makes low-cost transatlantic connections from Cork a reality. With today’s news, the expansive choices of destinations across the US and Canada reaches ten key destinations across North America, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York City, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Toronto and Washington DC.

WOW air’s fares for the new Cork – Chicago route are expected to start from €139.00 each way.

‘The addition of Chicago to the choice of destinations by WOW air is further great news for people of Munster looking to fly to the US from Cork Airport,’ said Niall MacCarthy, managing director at Cork Airport.

‘There are now ten fantastic and very different cities to choose from in the US and Canada that are affordable and easily accessible with just a short stopover. It’s also great news for tourism in the region as the new route also opens up Munster to American visitors looking to explore the best of what we have to offer, such as the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East.’

The airline will operate four weekly flights from Cork to Iceland on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday during the Summer 2017 season and will operate three weekly services during Winter 2017/ 2018.
