Music hub Connolly’s of Leap is offering designated drivers a 50% discount on all tickets to gigs for the popular West Cork venue.

MUSIC hub Connolly’s of Leap is offering designated drivers a 50% discount on all tickets to gigs for the popular West Cork venue.

Speaking to The Southern Star, owner Sam McNicholl said that the feedback already online about the new initiative has been very  enthusiastic.

‘People are loving it and it’s got more viral-ocity than anything we’ve put up on Facebook before!’ said Sam.

‘We actually started this initiative in January 2016 but it didn’t really take off as such, and not many designated drivers availed of it. We noticed over the last six months or so that no one at all had asked to avail of the offer, so we decided to re-launch it on our Facebook page last week and already people are responding to this unique move.’ As an entertainment venue in a rural setting, Sam recognises that people travel far and wide to catch some great gigs at his pub.

‘People are always asking me to organise buses to get here but there’s so much organisation as it is in planning gigs and bands, that this initiative is a way of combatting the travel aspect of getting to the venue.’

Sam pointed out, too, that this is a year-round offer and is available to any designated driver per group of people, and all they have to do is say it at the door and they will get their ticket half-price.

One fan of Connolly’s of Leap, Chani Wates, posted on her Facebook page that she has been a designated driver a few times to the venue, and added that it will be a nice bonus for drivers to get a discount.
