DUNMANWAY'S Community Garden has been nominated for a prize in the Excellence in Local Government Awards.Â
Both the County and the City Councils have made the shortlist in a range of categories in advance of the awards being announced this November.Â
The shortlist announced by Chambers Ireland sees a total of 23 local authorities being listed in over 16 categories, ranging from Active Communities to Local Authority Innovation.
Conor Healy, CEO, Cork Chamber, said: âWe are delighted to see the efforts of our Cork Local Authorities being recognised at national level with the shortlist selection reflecting the best practice work being undertaken by Local Authorities right across the country. Cork County Council and Cork City Council have successfully been shortlisted multiple times for projects such as The Living Space Project Mallow, Dunmanway Community Garden, the Greening of Glow and the Hollyhill Library services for children with autism, recognising the diversity of projects and initiatives being undertaken.'
 He added that the awards are instrumental in recognising the hard work and dedication of local authorities which is âintrinsic to enabling, facilitating and creating local initiatives that support our communities.'Â
