CONCERNS about the length of time it will take to reopen Michael Collins House Museum in Clonakilty were voiced at a meeting of the West Cork Municipal District, writes Jackie Keogh.
The popular historical and tourism amenity closed after a section of the ceiling in one of the upstairs rooms collapsed on Wednesday October 8th.
Noreen O’Mahony, senior executive officer, said the council is seeking a specialist contractor to do the work, and the building will have to remain closed until that is done.

She said the work required is in the middle floor so a partial reopening, as was suggested at the meeting by Cllr Daniel Sexton would not, in the interests of public safety, be possible.
She added the work would be ‘slow’ as it’s a listed building.
