The badly decomposed remains of a 70-year old Englishman has been discovered in Dunmanway

The badly decomposed body of a man, believed to be that of a 70-year-old Englishman, has been found in an isolated house near Dunmanway.

The remains of the deceased were taken from the house – which is set in woodland 4km north of Dunmanway in the townland of Gortnamuckla – on Saturday afternoon and brought to University Hospital Cork.

The man, who has yet to be named, was well known in the Dunmanway area, but gardai are anxious to establish the last confirmed sighting of him.
