A CLONAKILTY make up artist has been awarded a prestigious industry award.
Annette O’Brien, who is based in Killarney, was honoured with the Wedding Make-up Artist of the Year, at the Brides of Kerry Wedding Industry Awards last week.
She was presented with her prize by New York bridal designer Don O’Neill, originally from The Kingdom, who flew in especially for the event. Don is famed, among other things, for dressing Oprah Winfrey for the Oscars.
Annette was among nine make-up artists from all over the country shortlisted for the prize. With over 12 years in the make-up industry, working throughout Cork and Kerry she also runs a beauty salon, Le Beau Beauty Salon, in Ballymakeera.
Recent well-known clients include Kathryn Thomas, Miriam O’Callaghan, Lucy Kennedy, Jenny Greene, Louise Duffy and author Louise O’Neill.
Annette said: ‘I was so grateful to be shortlisted in this prestigious award and was absolutely delighted to have won. I would like to thank all my brides in the Clonakilty and West Cork area for your support and well wishes. A lot of my weddings are based in Clonkailty and it is always a delight to beautify brides on their magical day. Whether its old school friends, neighbours or houses that I revisit for the second or third family wedding, it is always so special.’
