A SOUTHERN Star reader contacted the paper this week to voice their anger and upset at what they believe was slurry floating alongside a pier in the scenic RoaringwaterBay.
‘I have just come back from a walk near Roaringwater Bay pier and was appalled to find slurry had seeped into the ocean,’ said Ana Kilbyrde.
‘It is totally unacceptable for farmers to do this, especially with the rise of e-coli, but environmental matters don’t seem to concern all of them. This is not the only time I have witnessed this, but this time I have decided I must speak up,’ she added.
‘I feel the more the public know about these matters, the less it will happen and more sustainable ways of managing this waste will be developed.’
The Southern Star contacted Cork County Council for a comment but, at time of going to press, had not received a reply.
