TO win one fabulous hamper could be considered luck, but to win two lovely hampers within the space of a couple of days – well that’s just amazing!

And that’s exactly what happened to Jo Killeen last week.

Her first win was at The Southern Star stand at the Bank of Ireland enterprise showcase in Skibbereen when her name came up for the raffle for a hamper packed with West Cork goodies.

‘I was delighted with my prize. It was fantastic, and I have shared it with family and friends,’ said Jo, who also lives in Skibbereen.

Then Jo took a trip to the Cork Craft Fair at the City Hall that weekend, and her luck continued when she bought another raffle ticket – and won another hamper!

‘I was amazed. I’m actually on my way to the post office now to collect my second hamper,’ Jo said when we called her on Wednesday. But Jo’s winning streak didn’t stop there. ‘My grandson, Jacob, is raising money to go on a trip with his school to Calcutta. So he did a sponsored head shave, and I won one of the spot prizes – a €20 voucher for a haircut!’

However, with all this luck surrounding the Skibbereen grandmother at the moment, Jo admitted that while she was off to the post office, she wouldn’t be trying her luck at the Lotto. ‘Lots of people have told me to be sure and buy a Lotto ticket, but I won’t be doing that … I’ve left my purse at home!’
