On Friday, June 3rd, the official opening of the new extension will be held at Rathbarry National School at 7pm.

A CHEQUE for €43,334.87 was recently presented by Declan Carroll, chairperson of Rathbarry School Development Fundraising Committee, to John Norris, chairperson of the Board of Management of Rathbarry National School. Mr John Norris expressed his gratitude on behalf of the board of management, parents, pupils, staff and wider community members to the fundraising committee for their gallant effort and marvellous work in raising this substantial amount.

The main fundraising initiatives included a confined members draw ‘Rathbarry 100 Club and ‘Buy a Block,’ campaign, which were organised by the Rathbarry School Development Fundraising Committee. These are acknowledged on timber plaques in the main school corridor.

Rathbarry and District Vintage Club organised ‘Family Fun Days’ and ‘Vintage Runs’ in September 2013 and 2014. A ‘Fashion Extravaganza’ in Dunmore House Hotel was organised by the Parents’ Association in October 2014 with Peter Kelly, aka Franc, as special guest.

Rathbarry National School is grateful to all who organised any of the fundraising events and to everyone who supported and donated money to the Development Fund. A Department of Education & Skills grant, together with money raised by the school fundraising committee, have greatly enhanced the educational environment and improved facilities at our school including an extension of a spacious classroom, toilet block, staff room, office, library and assembly areas. The new classroom is an ideal, bright and spacious learning environment for the entire school community. It is also used as a meeting room and assembly area.

The staff, pupils and parents appreciate all the new developments and improvements that have been made to provide up to date learning facilities for the present and future pupils of Rathbarry NS.

On Friday, June 3rd, the official opening of the new extension will be held at Rathbarry National School at 7pm. It will be officially opened by Clare O’Donovan-Scanlan of ‘Operation Transformation’ fame. There is an open invitation to everyone to come and celebrate with them at the opening.
