A play-off tournament was needed to decide the top flight after Dunmanway Town Cadets, Lyre Rovers and Skibbereen Celtic finished level on points at the conclusion of the campaign.

Lyre overcame Dunmanway in the first play-off encounter before Skibbereen Celtic proved too strong for Lyre, meaning that a win or draw would be enough against Dunmanway last Thursday.

All four goals in a deserved Skibbereen victory came during the opening half with Adam O’Donovan (two), Aaron Dempsey and Danny O’Donovan scoring. It was fitting end to another terrific campaign. Skibbereen Celtic U12 squad: Jonathan O’Neill, Luke O’Sullivan, Danny O’Donovan, Adam O’Donovan, Shane McCarthy, Sean McCarthy, Dan McCarthy, Donagh Murphy, Odhran Herlihy, Aaron Dempsey, Donagh Courtney, Joe Connolly. It was a similar story in SuperValu U12 Division 1B, where Kilmichael Rovers and Bantry Bay Rovers C advanced to a play-off final. Baltimore Road played host to an entertaining decider in which the Inchisine club edged the result 1-0 thanks to Tim Sweeney’s solitary strike.

Lyre Rovers were kings of the SuperValu U13 Premier League thanks to an unblemished record. The Lyre club also made headlines by reaching the Skechers SFAI U13 National Cup round of 32. Timothy Cullinane (two), Louka Mohan (two) and Jason Murray netted in a 5-0 U13 Premier League final defeat of Bantry Bay Rovers at Canon Crowley Park.

Bantry Bay Rovers proved worthy winners of this mini-season’s U14 Premier League trophy.
